The firm of Sara Leon & Associates sadly announces the loss of our friend and colleague, Jimmie Lee Solomon. Jimmie Lee died at his home in Houston of natural causes at the age of 64. Jimmie Lee grew up in rural Fort Bend County where he excelled in academics and sports. He attended Dartmouth College where he played on the Big Green football team. After graduating from Harvard Law School, Jimmie Lee practiced atBaker & Hostetler in the District of Columbia. Jimmie Lee was appointed by Major League Baseball Commissioner Fay Vincent as Executive Director of Minor League Baseball Operations. Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig selected Jimmie Lee to serve as Senior Vice-President of MLB Operations and then as Executive Vice-President of MLB Operations and Development. In addition, he created and presided over the annual MLB Futures Game, Civil Rights Game and the MLB Urban Youth Academies, where he was able to give life to his passion; expanding opportunities for urban youth and youth of color. We will dearly miss Jimmie Lee’s wit, intellect and energy, his love of sports, and his passion for enhancing opportunities for marginalized youth. Most of all, we will miss a great friend.
