EMPLOYMENT LAW

The Firm has a full-service Employment Law practice, including expertise in employment advice and counsel.  Our attorneys have years of experience in defending school employers in labor and employment claims and regularly work and advise school management and human resource professionals regarding employment matters, including workplace investigations, drafting and negotiating employment agreements, compensation agreements, offer letters, and termination agreements.  Our attorneys also work with clients in creating employment handbooks and policies.  In addition, we assist clients review job classifications under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and counsel clients with policies governing compensation and bonuses.

In addition to advising and counseling employment law clients, the attorneys at Leon | Alcala, PLLC have over 75 years of collective experience in representing the interests of employers in employment controversies before administrative agencies, and in litigation, mediation and arbitration. We are regularly called upon to represent clients in responding to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)/ TWC charges of discrimination and/or harassment, involving allegations of sex, age, gender, national origin, religion, and disability discrimination.   We also defend allegations of retaliation under the FMLA, the Texas Whistleblower Act, and other anti-retaliation statutes.  In addition, our attorneys have handled hundreds of investigations involving internal complaints of workplace harassment, employee misconduct (including educator misconduct with students), harassment (including sexual harassment), and discrimination.
